laLiga postpones Celta Vigo vs Osasuna due to pitch issues
Spanish football’s top tier has confirmed the postponement of the highly anticipated clash between Celta Vigo and Osasuna, originally scheduled for Sunday at 21:30 CET during the opening weekend of LaLiga.
Inspections carried out throughout Wednesday revealed severe fungal damage to the pitch at Balaídos, Celta Vigo’s home ground. The league acted swiftly after receiving the findings, setting a new fixture date for Thursday, 27 August at 20:30 CET.
This decision follows LaLiga’s recent assumption of full scheduling authority, eliminating the need for approval from Spain’s football federation since midway through last season. The league has worked closely with both clubs and the federation to finalise the revised calendar.
It’s worth noting that three other fixtures in LaLiga’s opening weekend have already been postponed: Valencia vs Real Betis, Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad, and Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao.
