Gonçalo ramos’s ac milan move: psg’s second-biggest sale in history

Mercato: where does Gonçalo Ramos’s transfer to AC Milan rank among PSG’s biggest sales?

Set to join AC Milan in a deal valued at €60 million, Gonçalo Ramos’s transfer represents the second-largest player sale in Paris Saint-Germain’s history. Only Neymar, who departed for Al-Hilal for €90 million in 2023, commanded a higher fee.

Paris Saint-Germain is on the verge of finalizing one of its most substantial outgoing transfers to date. The capital club has reached an agreement with AC Milan for the services of Gonçalo Ramos, with the transfer fee reportedly around €60 million. This significant transaction will secure the Parisians their second-highest sale ever, despite incurring a minor financial setback. Ramos was initially acquired on a permanent basis for €65 million, following a season-long loan valued at €20 million. The Portuguese forward’s departure from Paris comes without him having fully justified the initial substantial investment.

Neymar remains the sole player to have generated a larger transfer sum for Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian superstar was sold to Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023 for €90 million. Six years prior, he had arrived at PSG in a record-breaking €222 million transfer from FC Barcelona, the most expensive in football history. However, his tenure in Saudi Arabia was notably brief, featuring just seven appearances, one goal, and three assists.

Prior to the Ramos deal, no other Parisian sale had surpassed the symbolic €50 million mark. That distinction belonged to Manuel Ugarte, who moved to Manchester United during the final hours of the 2024 summer transfer window for €50 million. This occurred merely a year after his €60 million arrival from Sporting CP. Ultimately, this sale proved to be a shrewd move for PSG, as the Uruguayan midfielder has yet to consistently establish himself with the Red Devils, despite a statistically respectable first season comprising 45 matches, 2 goals, and 6 assists.

The permanent transfer of Xavi Simons also substantially bolstered Paris Saint-Germain’s financial reserves. Thanks to a particularly advantageous contractual arrangement, PSG secured between €50 and €80 million from the sale of the Dutch attacking midfielder to RB Leipzig, a deal officially completed in the winter of 2025. Just a few months later, Simons made a move to Tottenham, where he quickly emerged as a pivotal figure in the Spurs’ successful campaign.

Ronaldinho stands as a unique case

Further down the list of Paris Saint-Germain’s most significant sales are Marco Verratti, who transferred to Al-Arabi for €45 million in 2023, followed by Gonçalo Guedes, sold to Valencia for €40 million. Trailing them are David Luiz, who returned to Chelsea in 2016 for €35 million, and Ronaldinho, the sole representative from the pre-QSI era in this Top 20, who was sold to FC Barcelona for just over €30 million.

While awaiting the official announcement of Gonçalo Ramos’s departure, another transfer saga could soon accelerate. Lee Kang-in, currently under contract until 2028, maintains a strong market value. The South Korean international, boasting 50 caps and 10 goals for his country, continues to attract persistent interest, notably from Atlético de Madrid, who have been closely monitoring his situation for several weeks.
