Gabon’s RPM party applauds Oligui Nguema’s achievements and calls for tangible results

The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), a key political party in Gabon’s ruling coalition, has issued a statement expressing strong support for the extensive work undertaken by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema throughout August. Signed by party spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the official declaration highlights the administration’s active efforts to advance national development.

Significant investments in healthcare and regional development

Under the theme “From action to results,” the political group specifically lauded new initiatives designed to upgrade the national healthcare system, alongside visible infrastructure progress and the president’s active engagement across various provinces. Notably, the party pointed to the 55 billion CFA francs funding package announced in Makokou on August 30. This substantial financial injection includes 44 billion CFA francs dedicated to upgrading medical facilities nationwide, 6 billion CFA francs to reopen cafeterias in public hospitals, and 5 billion CFA francs to bolster the National Social Guarantee and Health Insurance Fund (CNAMGS). The RPM emphasized that these measures address critical public needs and urged their rapid execution.

Beyond healthcare, the political party noted the launch of several administrative, commercial, military, and medical facilities in the Grand Libreville area. Additionally, 17 major developmental projects have been initiated in the Ogooué-Ivindo province, coinciding with the Liberation Day celebrations held in Makokou. To address regional disparities, the housing program in Mayiga has already delivered 50 housing units, with 25 more currently under construction, aiming for a total of 500 serviced residential plots.

Concrete achievements over promises

Reflecting on the dual celebrations of Gabon’s 66th Independence anniversary and the third year since the Liberation Coup, the RPM echoed the head of state’s own philosophy: “The era of promises must now make way for the era of proof.” Embracing this standard, the party asserted that the ultimate measure of any government program lies in its direct, positive impact on the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.

The statement also highlighted the recent diplomatic visit of Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Libreville, which culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements.

Diplomatic progress and political alignment

While urging the government to maintain this momentum—particularly regarding project execution, infrastructure maintenance, and youth employment—the RPM reaffirmed its loyal support for national unity and modernization. Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who serves as the Vice President of the Republic, the RPM joined the coalition backing President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema during the April 12, 2025 presidential election. While retaining its political independence, the party continues to hold three seats in the National Assembly.
