Five new ambassadors present credentials in Gabon

Gabon’s head of state, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, yesterday received the credentials of five newly accredited ambassadors at the Bord de Mer Palace. The ceremony marked the official start of their missions in the country and reflected the vitality of Gabonese diplomacy, as well as renewed trust from its international partners.

Among the diplomats were Apostolic Nuncio Monsignor Relwende Kisito Ouedraogo; the ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chad, Fadoul Kitir Zakaria; of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Gholamreza Mirmohammad Meigoni; of the Republic of Djibouti, Mohamed Bourhan Ali; and the High Commissioner of Australia, Leilani Bin-Juda. All will be based outside Gabon.

These five ambassadors open a new chapter in the relations between their respective states and Gabon, which is committed to strengthening ties with traditional partners and diversifying its partnerships. The accreditation of the Apostolic Nuncio and the Chadian ambassador underscores the enduring excellence of historical relations between Gabon, the Holy See, and this subregional country. The arrival of the Australian High Commissioner illustrates renewed dynamism between Libreville and Canberra, highlighted by the presence of Australian group Fortescue in the integrated Belinga project and its associated logistics corridor. Similarly, with the Islamic Republic of Iran, new areas of cooperation are emerging across many sectors. And with Djibouti, Gabon is expected to consolidate its ambitions in green economy, port infrastructure, and maritime security and defense, as expressed by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema during his visit in May for the inauguration of his counterpart Ismaïl Omar Guelleh.

This overall dynamic supports the transformation and development process that Gabon has been driving for three years under its highest state authorities.
