Elliot Anderson’s potentially record-breaking move to Manchester City

Manchester City and Nottingham Forest are reportedly nearing an agreement for the transfer of Elliot Anderson. The English international is said to be keen on joining the Skyblues, who may need to commit around €150 million to finalize his arrival.
Premier League giants Manchester City are poised to make a significant financial outlay. The club from England’s North West has emerged as the frontrunner in the pursuit of Elliot Anderson and is reportedly nearing a definitive agreement with Nottingham Forest for the English international (11 caps). According to football journalist Ben Jacobs, while the Citizens’ most recent bid, valued at approximately €140 million, was rejected by Forest, both parties are progressively aligning on Anderson’s club’s valuation, which hovers around €150 million. This substantial transfer fee would provide a crucial boost to Nottingham Forest, who concluded the previous Premier League season in 16th position.
A significant factor favoring Manchester City in these negotiations is Anderson’s expressed desire to join the Skyblues. The 23-year-old midfielder’s transfer could rank among football’s most expensive acquisitions, potentially entering the top five, or even the top three, depending on the final agreed sum. Should the fee surpass €140 million, Elliot Anderson would be crowned the most expensive midfielder in football history. Furthermore, the deal has the potential to break the existing Premier League transfer record, which was reportedly established by Liverpool’s acquisition of Alexander Isak for €150 million.
