Deadly assault on malian military base in san city

At least ten soldiers were killed on Sunday in an assault on a military base in San, central Mali, according to security and local sources. The attack, which left the base temporarily under rebel control, was claimed by the Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) jihadist group.

Initial reports indicated provisional losses of approximately ten soldiers, with the attackers briefly seizing the facility. A security official confirmed the casualties among government forces but stressed that assessments were ongoing. “We sustained losses, but our forces have retaken the base,” the official stated.

A local source corroborated the incident, noting that while the exact number of casualties remained uncertain, the army had reclaimed control of the site.
