In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties, Mr. Hassan Adoum Younousmi, Director-General of Chad’s Autorité de Régulation du Secteur Pétrolier Aval (ARSAT), met with Mr. Mohamed Arkab, Algeria’s Minister of State for Hydrocarbons. The high-level meeting took place at the Algerian Ministry of Hydrocarbons headquarters, with key advisors from both sides present.
The discussions, held recently in Algiers, centered on advancing the petroleum downstream sector through enhanced regulatory frameworks, energy infrastructure development, and improved refining, storage, and distribution systems. Key priorities included industrial safety, process digitalization, and transparent governance—all aimed at modernizing the sector for greater efficiency.
This engagement follows the signing of a bilateral cooperation protocol on April 23, 2026, between ARSAT and Algeria’s Autorité de Régulation des Hydrocarbures (ARH). The agreement focuses on technical and institutional cooperation, fostering knowledge exchange, best practice sharing, and capacity-building initiatives to support Chad’s national petroleum ambitions.
Both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the long-standing friendship between Algeria and Chad while advancing sustainable development and regional integration across Africa. In closing remarks, Mr. Younousmi underscored ARSAT’s dedication to collaborating with Algerian partners to elevate Chad’s petroleum downstream industry and build local expertise.
