Brest to honour Éric Roy ahead of PSG clash in Ligue 1
Three months after the passing of Éric Roy, Stade Brestois 29 has announced a tribute to the late coach during their home fixture against Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1’s fourth matchday.
The Stade Francis-Le Blé will host a special moment on September 13, 2026, when Brest faces Paris Saint-Germain. The club has chosen this fixture to pay tribute to Éric Roy, who passed away on June 17. « Stade Brestois 29 wishes for this tribute to reflect the indelible mark Éric Roy left on the club’s history and the deep respect held by his family, friends, staff, and the entire Brest community », the club stated in an official announcement.
Initially, the club had planned to honour Éric Roy during earlier home games at Francis-Le Blé. However, « matchday preparations did not allow for gathering the Brest public under the desired conditions ». Additionally, the Quimper stand was closed for the clash against Toulouse FC due to « repeated use of pyrotechnics ». Brest’s management decided to postpone the tribute until the PSG fixture to ensure a fitting farewell.
