Benin Senate elects Patrice Talon as president

On a recent Thursday in Porto-Novo, the country’s senators gathered to elect the first governing body of the upper chamber of Parliament. Among them, Patrice Talon emerged as the newly elected president of the institution, alongside a leadership team that includes Louis Vlavonou, Alassane Séidou, and Adidjatou Mathys, who will share the key administrative and parliamentary responsibilities.

This landmark election, held in the capital city of Porto-Novo, signifies more than just the formation of a governing team. It represents the constitutional fulfillment of the Senate’s structure and paves the way for the chamber to begin its legislative work without delay.
