Enhancing legislative bonds: Azerbaijan and Morocco advance cooperation
Baku, June 23 — A high-level meeting between Azerbaijani and Moroccan parliamentary leaders in Baku has underscored the growing strength of bilateral relations between the two nations.
Sahibé Gafarova, Chairperson of Azerbaijan’s Milli Medjlis, received Mohammed Ghayate, Vice-President of Morocco’s Chamber of Representatives, who was in the Azerbaijani capital for the 20th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUOIC). The discussions highlighted mutual respect as the cornerstone of their ongoing political and diplomatic engagement.
Bilateral cooperation gains momentum in international forums
Both delegations emphasized the robust partnership between Azerbaijan and Morocco, noting successful collaboration within global organizations. The shared stance on key international issues and mutual support in multilateral platforms were identified as pillars of their relationship.

Gafarova underscored the pivotal role of inter-parliamentary exchanges in strengthening bilateral relations. She reflected on her past official visit to Morocco, where productive meetings with Moroccan counterparts at international events laid the groundwork for enhanced cooperation. Active friendship groups within the legislatures of both countries were recognized for facilitating dialogue and fostering mutual understanding. The recent signing of a memorandum of understanding between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Morocco was cited as a significant step forward in deepening their partnership.

The meeting also celebrated the cooperation of both parliaments within international parliamentary networks, particularly the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. Morocco’s strong representation and active participation in the network’s conferences were highlighted as a testament to its commitment to the organization’s work.
