President Tshisekedi laid a wreath at the memorial, paying homage to Léon Mba, Gabon’s first president and a key architect of the country’s independence. The tribute continued with the unveiling of a biographical account of Mba’s life and the playing of the national anthem in remembrance of the fallen.

The following day, President Tshisekedi proceeded to the Gabonese Presidential Palace for a private meeting with his Gabonese counterpart, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. While the official communiqué did not disclose the specifics of their discussions, the meeting symbolized the enduring partnership between Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Both nations, members of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), have a long history of diplomatic engagement, regularly exchanging official visits to foster collaboration across various sectors.
