Who really controls Côte d’Ivoire’s airwaves — and what happens if that control fails?

Abidjan, 28 September 2026 – What exactly is a radio frequency, and why should its management matter to ordinary Ivorians? How are these invisible signals allocated across Côte d’Ivoire, and what safeguards exist to stop interference from disrupting essential services? These are the pressing questions that will take centre stage at the upcoming ‘Tout Savoir Sur’ (TSS) forum, scheduled for Tuesday 29 September 2026 from 3:00 pm, under the theme ‘The management and control of radio frequencies in Côte d’Ivoire’.

Organised by the Government Information and Communication Centre (CICG), the press conference will be streamed live on the government’s digital platforms, including Facebook, X and YouTube. Citizens are encouraged to follow the discussions and submit their concerns in real time.

The guest speaker is Aliou Bamba, Director of National Frequency Management at the Ivorian Frequency Management Agency (AIGF). He will outline the agency’s missions in spectrum management and the mechanisms deployed to ensure rational, efficient and secure use of frequencies across the national territory.

The discussions will focus on frequency allocation and assignment procedures, spectrum usage conditions, and the surveillance and control measures designed to prevent and address jamming and interference. A review of the AIGF’s actions will also be presented, along with future plans to improve the management and control of this strategic resource.

The forum will be held at the premises of the Integrated Urban Land Management System (SIGFU), in the administrative district of Abidjan-Plateau, in the presence of journalists and sector stakeholders.

Held every Tuesday by the CICG, ‘Tout Savoir Sur’ serves as a platform for exchange between public institutions, the media and citizens, contributing to a better understanding of public policies and services.
