Strengthening its network within the kingdom, Uber has officially commenced operations in Tangier and Agadir. This expansion is strategically timed to support Morocco‘s thriving tourism sector and follows the successful implementation of ride-sharing services in Casablanca and Rabat. The move aligns with the country’s status as a premier regional destination and its ongoing preparations to host the 2030 World Cup.
As the nation works toward an ambitious target of 26 million annual visitors by 2030, the arrival of these services promises to provide a reliable and safe mobility solution. The goal is to elevate the quality of the travel experience, facilitating smooth transitions for tourists moving between hotels, historical sites, and city centers.
By establishing a presence in Agadir and Tangier, the platform is addressing a rising need for modern transport. Users in these coastal hubs can now utilize the application to request rides, with both UberX and UberXL categories available to meet diverse passenger needs.
The growth of the transport network comes on the heels of impressive performance metrics for the tourism industry. In 2025, Morocco hit a record high of 19.8 million tourists, a 14% jump from the previous year. Financial returns from the sector reached 124 billion dirhams between January and November. This upward trend persists, with 4.3 million visitors arriving in the first quarter of 2026, a 7% increase over the same period in the preceding year.
