In Kétou, moto-taxi drivers will soon be required to work in uniform. The municipal authorities are launching a registration campaign ahead of this reform, which is presented as a way to strengthen safety, improve driver identification and better organise urban transport.
The decision covers all six districts of the commune and aims to better regulate the activity of moto-taxi drivers. According to the mayor’s office, the measure will make it easier to identify drivers, enhance passenger safety and contribute to a more organised transport system in the city.
To implement the reform, a registration drive will take place from 6 to 20 July 2026 at the administrative secretariats of each district. Drivers must bring a valid identity document to be enrolled. This step is essential to receive the official uniform.
After the registration period, only drivers who are properly registered and wearing the uniform will be permitted to carry passengers. The municipality warns that any driver who fails to comply will face penalties as stipulated by current regulations.
Local authorities also encourage residents to support the reform by choosing officially identified drivers. District chiefs, moto-taxi driver associations and security services have been tasked with ensuring effective compliance with the new rule.
