The C64 coalition in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has firmly rejected the proposed national dialogue put forth by President Félix Tshisekedi. This significant development in African current affairs highlights growing political tensions within the nation.

For the C64, this initiative represents a mere diversion, failing to address the profound and urgent challenges faced by Congolese citizens. The opposition accuses the current administration of resorting to ineffective measures rather than engaging in a genuinely inclusive national dialogue that could bring meaningful change.

Following five hours of intense deliberation, the coalition’s unified stance was articulated by Martin Fayulu. He declared, “The people are not naive. These latest consultations initiated by Félix Tshisekedi neither respond to the urgency of the ongoing war, nor to the pervasive insecurity, the health crisis, or the widespread social distress afflicting the Congolese population. Instead, they serve to steer the country away from its true priorities.”
