President Bassirou Diomaye Faye terminated the mandate of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko in a late-night announcement on May 22, 2026, via a statement from the Senegalese presidency.

This decision dissolves the entire government, as confirmed by Presidential Secretary General Oumar Samba Ba in a televised address on national broadcaster RTS. Current ministers have been instructed to manage day-to-day operations until a new cabinet is formed.
