On Thursday, Real Madrid officially announced the seven-year contract extension for Yan Diomandé, binding him to the club until June 30, 2033. The announcement, made through an official statement, did not disclose the exact financial terms of the transaction. This staggering figure surpasses previous records at the Santiago Bernabéu, eclipsing even the club’s previous high of €100 million for a player. Diomandé’s arrival also sets a new benchmark for African footballers, outpacing the €80 million paid for Bryan Mbeumo (now at Manchester United).

The young Ivorian talent arrived at RB Leipzig in the summer of 2025, transferring from Leganés, a Spanish club based in the Madrid suburbs. His integration was swift and impactful.
