The third arab postal leaders forum kicked off in Rabat on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, organized by Barid Al-Maghrib in collaboration with the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

The event, themed “Reinventing postal supply chains for a digital-first e-commerce future,” brings together regional postal authorities to address the sector’s rapid evolution amid surging online trade and digital economy growth.

This forum provides a vital platform to strengthen collaboration among postal stakeholders, fostering a more integrated, efficient, and globally competitive Arab postal and logistics ecosystem, noted the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

He highlighted key challenges facing the Arab postal sector, including shifting consumer behaviors, the surge in cross-border e-commerce, and the need for smarter, interconnected infrastructure. “Under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco prioritizes postal modernization, digital commerce growth, and business climate improvement in line with global best practices,” Mezzour emphasized.

Amin Benjelloun Touimi, Director General of Barid Al-Maghrib, stressed that Arab postal institutions must modernize logistics networks, embrace digital infrastructure, leverage AI and data analytics, and expand e-commerce support for SMEs. Strengthening coordination with transport, technology, and e-commerce players is essential to unlock the sector’s potential, he added.

Masahiko Metoki, UPU Director General, speaking via video link, noted that digital technologies and evolving consumer expectations are reshaping global trade at an unprecedented pace. The future of postal services hinges on innovation, digital interoperability, and public-private partnerships, with the UPU committed to supporting Arab transformation efforts.

A highlight of the event was the joint issuance of a commemorative stamp by Morocco and Mauritania, attended by Mauripost Director General Alioune Ould Issa.

Hosted in Rabat, the forum reflects Morocco’s commitment to digital transformation and economic integration as key development drivers. It follows editions in Oman (2024) and Qatar (2025), underscoring the region’s focus on postal and logistics cooperation.

Participants will explore strategies to modernize supply chains, integrate AI and big data, enhance service quality, and develop cross-border e-commerce solutions. They will also examine financing models for digital transformation projects to boost the sector’s competitiveness and resilience in the digital economy.

The forum will conclude with actionable recommendations and a 2026–2027 cooperation roadmap to support e-commerce growth, regional logistics integration, and a more resilient, future-ready Arab postal ecosystem.

Attendees include directors general of 14 Arab postal operators, UPU officials, Arab League representatives, postal regulators, and national and international figures.
