Psg targets elite goalkeepers for summer squad revamp

Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly preparing a significant overhaul of its goalkeeping department this summer. The club’s current situation sees Lucas Chevalier having lost his starting position, while Matvey Safonov’s tenure as first-choice for the upcoming season remains unconfirmed.

The summer transfer window for PSG is anticipated to be dynamic, though activity is currently on hold. Luis Campos recently confirmed, “For us in the transfer market, and this is a decision we made with our coach and the president, our transfer market has been completely stopped for a few weeks.” He indicated that no concrete moves would be made until after the Champions League final, which is just a week away. Nevertheless, this pause has not prevented PSG from formulating potential targets and strategies.

Mile Svilar emerges as a PSG target

Particular attention is being paid to the goalkeeper position. While Lucas Chevalier has been relegated to the bench, and despite Matvey Safonov’s solid performances, he has not yet been guaranteed his starting spot. Reports suggest that PSG is actively scouting the market for a new goalkeeper and has identified AS Roma’s Mile Svilar. Svilar was recently recognized as the best goalkeeper in Serie A this season. The 26-year-old Serbian international, who has one cap for his country, has significantly elevated his game, with his transfer valuation now estimated at €50 million.

Diogo Costa also under consideration?

Svilar’s price tag is unlikely to decrease, especially with other European giants like Chelsea, Inter, and Newcastle reportedly expressing interest. PSG‘s pursuit of Svilar strongly indicates their intention to disrupt the established hierarchy within their goal. Furthermore, recent reports from Portugal have also linked PSG with a potential offer for Diogo Costa, the talented goalkeeper from FC Porto. All signs point to a busy summer ahead in Paris concerning the club’s goalkeeping situation.
