President Wadagni streamlines Bénin’s state apparatus, dissolving key agencies
President of the Republic, Romuald Wadagni, has launched a significant institutional offensive, initiating a profound reorganization of Bénin’s public administration. This sweeping reform includes the dissolution of several strategic agencies inherited from the previous Patrice Talon regime.

This wave of dissolutions, which directly impacts the culture and tourism sectors, reflects a comprehensive desire to rationalize state structures. It marks the commencement of a clear strategy aimed at imprinting a new direction on governmental action in Bénin.
Upon assuming the highest office, the new occupant of the La Marina palace opted to redefine the mechanisms for implementing public policy by eliminating several agencies. Among the entities dissolved are the Agency for the Development of Arts and Culture (Adac), Bénin Tourism Agency, and the National Agency for the Promotion of Heritage and Tourism Development (Anpt), which previously served as the state’s operational arm to position Bénin as a major tourist destination.
The stated ambition behind this extensive restructuring is to halt the dispersion of resources and optimize the national administrative organization. While the presidential decree lays the groundwork for more streamlined African governance, the specifics regarding the transfer of responsibilities from these defunct agencies, as well as the future of their respective personnel, await clarification from the competent authorities.
By taking this strong political action early in his mandate, Romuald Wadagni sets the tone for his administration and demonstrates his unwavering commitment to rationalizing Bénin’s state apparatus.
