President diomaye faye issues stern warning amid Senegal’s political shifts

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye delivered a pointed message during the launch of his new political party, KIIRAAY – Les Patriotes républicains, an address widely perceived as a direct caution to his former Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko. During the official inauguration of KIIRAAY – Les Patriotes républicains, the head of state issued an unequivocal warning: « Fii, saa fitnë dootufi nanee ñeex ». This powerful declaration translates to: “Here, what was once tolerated will no longer be permitted.”
 
The founder of KIIRAAY – Les Patriotes Républicains underscored Senegal’s enduring commitment to stability and peace. This significant statement emerges amidst escalating tensions between the nation’s two highest executive figures, set against a backdrop of a reshaped presidential majority and the establishment of a new political entity.
 
This public intervention follows months of evident disagreements between the President and his former government head. These differences were highlighted by distinct tones in their respective national addresses and the definitive break between the presidential coalition and the Pastef party.
 
Meanwhile, Ousmane Sonko, the leader of Pastef, has concurrently embarked on a membership card recruitment drive alongside his party colleagues, an initiative launched several days ago.
