Ousmane Sonko appeals for Pastef unity in Mbacké, warning against internal divisions

During the inauguration of Pastef’s new headquarters in Mbacké, party president Ousmane Sonko issued a powerful plea for unity among his political leaders. He cautioned them against internal rivalries that could undermine the party’s momentum and future success. Addressing the senior members of his political movement directly, the Pastef leader emphasized that cohesion is the sole guarantor of their upcoming struggles and ambitions.

Sonko acknowledged that individual ambition is not inherently negative, but he stressed that it becomes detrimental when it compromises the collective unity and operational effectiveness of the party. Confident in his movement’s popular base, Ousmane Sonko asserted that Pastef remains robust, supported by an estimated 70% of the population. Consequently, he believes the party has no genuine external adversaries to fear. For him, the most significant threat originates from within Pastef itself, prompting his strong emphasis on the individual and collective responsibility of its officials.

The president of the National Assembly urged party leaders to collaborate and face future political challenges as a united front. He also issued a clear warning: should this essential unity falter, he would not hesitate to assume his responsibilities and make the necessary decisions, a statement that suggests the possibility of sanctions or internal restructuring within the party.
