Senegal’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and cabinet face parliamentary scrutiny this friday
The Prime Minister of Senegal, Ousmane Sonko, along with key members of his government, is scheduled to appear before the National Assembly this Friday, May 22, 2026, for the bi-weekly Questions to the Government session. This constitutional mechanism allows lawmakers to directly interrogate the executive branch on pressing national issues.
Parliamentary President El Malick Ndiaye confirmed the session, emphasizing its role in fostering transparency and accountability. The event serves as a critical platform for elected representatives to assess government policies and demand clarity on socioeconomic challenges facing the nation.
During the session, deputies will have the opportunity to challenge the Prime Minister and senior ministers on a wide range of pressing topics, including:
- Economic stability and inflation pressures
- Unemployment trends and youth employment initiatives
- Ongoing institutional reforms
- Public policy implementation and service delivery
Since assuming office in April 2024, Prime Minister Sonko has participated in four prior Questions to the Government sessions, establishing this exchange as a regular fixture in Senegal’s governance calendar.
