N’Djamena cracks down: 29 suspects held in major security sweep

N’Djamena — Authorities in N’Djamena have taken decisive action against criminal networks operating in the capital, apprehending 29 individuals in a coordinated security operation.

Unified police effort leads to arrests

The crackdown, spanning from mid-May to early June 2026, involved multiple specialized units, including intelligence cells, public security commissariats, central investigation services, and border police from Ngueli. These efforts culminated in the identification and arrest of suspects linked to a range of serious offenses.

Wide-ranging criminal activities uncovered

Among the charges against the detainees are arms trafficking, conspiracy, gang formation, aggravated theft, armed robbery, vehicle break-ins, and illegal entry into the country. The suspects were systematically questioned and categorized into four distinct groups based on the nature of their alleged crimes.

The arrested individuals face allegations ranging from involvement in organized crime and aggravated robbery to motorcycle thefts, electronics theft, precious metal and fabric robbery, and pickpocketing. Several suspects were caught in the act of breaking into vehicles, further highlighting the scale of illicit activities.
