Mustapha Ngouana argues Cameroon has become accustomed to unmet promises and broken commitments.

During an appearance on the television program “Right of Reply,” the legal practitioner painted a picture of Cameroon’s recurring pattern of unfulfilled government pledges.

“The President of Cameroon has repeatedly made decisions with deadlines that were never met. Let’s examine a few examples. For the African Cup of Nations, the President promised the tournament would take place on schedule—it didn’t happen. The President had 50 years to prepare for the 50th anniversary of reunification, which was supposed to be celebrated in 2011 but only occurred in 2014,” Ngouana stated.

The discussion centered on the theme: “Broken Trust: Public Opinion and Unfulfilled Promises.” Ngouana framed the issue around what he described as “permanent missteps” in the country’s leadership.

“I believe the President’s governance is characterized by persistent missteps. Our nation is at a standstill. While some describe it as poor governance, I consider that an understatement—this is not governance at all. Cameroon is operating on autopilot,” he asserted.
