Malian forces regain ground against islamist militants in north and center

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have declared that they have regained the upper hand in areas targeted by clashes with the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA) in the north and the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM), an Al-Qaeda affiliate, in central and southern regions.

Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, spokesperson for the MNLA, had earlier claimed control over Anfif following the resumption of hostilities.
