Legal Response From Sani Mouhamadou Denies All Claims Made By Maxime Eko Eko’s Lawyers
Attorney Mélissa Nyoth, acting on behalf of client Sani Mouhamadou, has issued a formal statement categorically rejecting allegations contained in a recent press release attributed to Léopold Maxime Eko Eko. The response, shared exclusively with media, clarifies key facts surrounding a 2020 engagement dispute involving Cameroon’s Directorate General for External Research (DGRE).
The August 9 press release from Eko Eko’s legal team alleged that Mouhamadou had falsely implicated the DGRE in soliciting his professional services during 2020. Their claims included assertions that Mouhamadou had approached Eko Eko first, lacked verifiable credentials, and that the DGRE had terminated all contact with him.
In her rebuttal, Nyoth emphasized that Mouhamadou’s original August 5 communiqué was intended solely to correct misinformation after videos surfaced online on July 24 and 25, 2026, damaging his professional reputation. Crucially, she stated that no mention of Eko Eko’s name was ever made in that document, suggesting the allegations arose from a misunderstanding.
To substantiate her client’s position, Nyoth provided documentary evidence—a message sent by Eko Eko to Mouhamadou on February 1, 2020, at 7:09 AM, reading: ‘I urgently need your help…’ This, she argued, proves Eko Eko initiated contact and cannot dispute Mouhamadou’s certified expertise from the Institute of Advanced National Defense Studies.
An informal amicable resolution was attempted immediately after the erroneous press release surfaced, but no corrective action was taken. Mouhamadou, while expressing respect for Eko Eko, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the communiqué’s retraction. Failure to comply, he warns, will result in legal action for defamation, given the serious nature of the uncorrected accusations.
