President Félix Tshisekedi personally laid the foundation stone for the Étienne Tshisekedi boulevard in Kinshasa, marking the official commencement of the ambitious 12-month construction program. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka and Kinshasa Governor Daniel Bumba. The project centers on a 2,020-meter main artery featuring eight lanes—four in each direction—enhanced by a 750-meter dual-lane ramp. Integral components include advanced drainage networks, strategically placed bridges and culverts, and full-scale lighting systems designed to ensure round-the-clock operational safety.

China Railway 20th Bureau Group embarks on inaugural DRC public project

Construction responsibilities have been awarded to China Railway 20th Bureau Group (CR20), a globally recognized infrastructure specialist. Zhang Guoxu, Managing Director of China Railway 20th Bureau Group Angola International Company, confirmed this marks CR20’s first public sector contract in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering the project on schedule while adhering to stringent technical and environmental standards. Governor Daniel Bumba underscored the necessity of strict contract compliance to expedite traffic relief in the targeted zone. The new infrastructure aims to seamlessly integrate with existing road networks, thereby reducing pressure on overburdened routes.

President Tshisekedi reviewed detailed project blueprints, visual renderings, and technical specifications prior to the groundbreaking ceremony. The boulevard’s primary objective is to significantly enhance road capacity and streamline mobility in a city plagued by persistent gridlock. Successful implementation will hinge on meticulous execution, timely completion, and harmonious integration with Kinshasa’s broader transportation ecosystem. Upon completion in twelve months, the boulevard will be seamlessly assimilated into the capital’s road network, offering long-term congestion relief and improved connectivity.
