In his annual address marking the 27th anniversary of his accession to the throne, King Mohamed VI presented a comprehensive evaluation of Morocco’s current trajectory, highlighting three critical pillars: national stability, economic growth, and strategic autonomy.

Addressing the nation from the heart of Rabat, the monarch emphasized the Kingdom’s exceptional stability and security, which he described as rare commodities in today’s volatile global landscape. “In a world increasingly plagued by instability, our nation stands out as a beacon of reliability,” the King declared. “This stability isn’t accidental—it’s the result of deliberate policies and institutional resilience.”

The sovereign went on to detail Morocco’s impressive economic achievements, noting the country’s 80% self-sufficiency in food, pharmaceuticals, and automotive production. “Our automotive sector has become Africa’s leading exporter, with annual production exceeding one million vehicles,” he revealed. The speech also highlighted significant advances in renewable energy, particularly green hydrogen initiatives that are positioning Morocco as a regional leader in sustainable development.

Strategic autonomy emerged as a central theme, with King Mohamed VI stressing Morocco’s determination to reduce dependency on external partners. “We have made strategic self-sufficiency a cornerstone of our industrial policy,” he stated. “Our pharmaceutical and food industries now cover 80% of national needs, while our defense sector is rapidly developing indigenous capabilities in technology and cybersecurity.”

The King also addressed persistent challenges, particularly the need to translate macroeconomic gains into tangible improvements for all citizens. “Our progress must be inclusive,” he asserted. “Every region must benefit from this development momentum without exception.”

“We must mobilize national savings to consolidate our achievements and prepare for the next phase of development,” the monarch continued, calling on financial institutions to support small and medium enterprises and innovative projects that will drive the Kingdom’s continued emergence.

In a symbolic gesture marking the occasion, King Mohamed VI announced the pardon of 1,788 detainees and ex-convicts, demonstrating the monarchy’s commitment to social justice and national cohesion.

Reflecting on the Divine words, “If you are grateful, I will certainly increase you in favor,” We express Our deepest gratitude for the blessings that guide Our path to success and enable Us to meet your expectations.

Our motivations have never been personal glory or international recognition. Our sole purpose has always been to serve you with unwavering dedication, ensuring every Moroccan can live with dignity as a free citizen.

When We review what We have accomplished together, Our heart swells with pride at the magnitude of our achievements. This fills Us with optimism about the future and strengthens Our resolve to continue this journey.

As a nation with millennia of history, Morocco draws its strength from the ancestral traditions of a state where institutions function in harmony and complementarity. This enables us to achieve remarkable progress despite challenges and constraints.

The Kingdom’s organizational mastery has earned international admiration through the successful hosting of major continental and global events—though such achievements have occasionally sparked envy among some.

Our resilience has also been demonstrated in crisis management, notably during the proactive response to devastating floods in the Gharb and northern regions.

Thanks to this stable environment and institutional effectiveness, positive indicators are multiplying across all sectors, reinforcing our economic emergence and safeguarding national sovereignty.

Indeed, our growth rate reached 4.9% in 2025, with similar or higher performance projected for 2026. Agriculture has benefited from abundant rainfall and a strong harvest season, strengthening our water and food security.

Today, Morocco ranks as Africa’s top automotive exporter, with an annual production capacity of nearly one million vehicles. The automotive and aeronautics sectors now account for over 40% of total exports, surpassing even phosphate revenues.

This momentum extends to renewable energy, where major projects are underway to position these resources as pillars of energy security and magnets for industries seeking competitive, decarbonized energy.

Our operational implementation of Morocco’s Green Hydrogen Offer has begun with the awarding of permits to a first group of megaprojects.

In an international context marked by rising protectionism and supply chain security imperatives, We have made strengthening national sovereignty and strategic self-sufficiency central pillars of our industrial development.

This approach is exemplified by our agro-industrial and pharmaceutical sectors, which now meet nearly 80% of national needs. Additionally, the establishment of an industrial and technological defense base will gradually enhance our defense sovereignty and create development opportunities.

Alongside economic promotion, We continue to implement multiple human development initiatives, particularly through the expansion of social protection. Our ultimate goal is to improve living conditions for all Moroccans and establish social and spatial justice.

We stress the importance of efficient implementation of integrated territorial development programs, ensuring they include all regions without exception.

The economic and social progress we have achieved transcends government and parliamentary mandates—it’s the result of a virtuous cumulative dynamic spanning years of strategic decisions and prudent choices.

As we approach the next legislative elections and the formation of a new government, We hope this marks the beginning of a new cycle in our development trajectory, characterized by preserving our achievements and continuing major projects and reforms.

On this Glorious Throne Day, We express Our pride and admiration for the Royal Armed Forces, Royal Gendarmerie, territorial administration, national security, auxiliary forces, and civil protection—all working under Our command to defend national unity and preserve the country’s security and stability.

We remember with deep reverence the heroic martyrs of the nation, foremost among them Our beloved grandfather, His Majesty King Mohammed V, and Our illustrious father, His Majesty King Hassan II—may God have mercy upon them.
