Gabon Promotes Secure Cooperation at un Police Summit

Le Gabon a reaffirmed its commitment to international security cooperation during the fifth UN Police Chiefs Summit, held in New York from July 8-9. Minister of Interior, Security and Decentralization Adrien Nguema Mba emphasized the need for real-time information sharing and joint data collection to effectively combat transnational threats.

Alongside Interpol Commandant-in-Chief General Serge Hervé Ngoma, Mr. Nguema Mba stressed the importance of collective action against organized crime, terrorism, and criminal networks that have transcended national borders.

The Gabonese delegation also highlighted its engagement in regional and international security partnerships, including its membership in the Central African Police Cooperation Committee (CCPAC) since 1997 and participation in the Economic Community of Central African States’ (CEMAC) police cooperation mechanisms.

Libreville has recently signed strategic agreements with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Customs Organization, and Interpol to strengthen efforts against illicit trafficking and organized crime.
