Diplomats and officials gathered in Chad’s capital to mark French National Day, highlighting decades of cooperation and shared values between the two nations.
The French Embassy in Chad hosted a vibrant ceremony on the evening of July 14, 2026, at the French residence in N’Djamena to commemorate French National Day. The event drew a diverse crowd of dignitaries, including Chad’s ambassador to France, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, military leaders, diplomatic corps, French expatriates, local government representatives, private sector leaders, and civil society members.
The evening began with the national anthems of both nations, setting a tone of unity and pride. Ambassador Éric Gérard took the floor to deliver a speech that resonated with the core values of liberty, equality, and fraternity—pillars of the French Republic. He reflected on the deep, historical bond between France and Chad, forged through shared challenges and triumphs, and honored the veterans in attendance.
« This friendship is not static; it grows stronger with each passing day, » Gérard emphasized. « We must nurture bonds rooted in mutual respect, honesty, and sincerity—capable of withstanding even the toughest of conversations. »
The ambassador highlighted the robust cooperation between the two countries, citing 39 active projects spanning critical sectors such as water management, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment. He pointed to the January 29 meeting between the heads of state in Paris as a pivotal moment in redefining their partnership, followed by the Africa-France Summit in Nairobi, which brought together leaders from 49 nations, including Chad.
Gérard also underscored France’s commitment to Chad’s development under the Tchad Connexion 2030 national development plan, a roadmap designed to propel the country forward. The evening concluded with a heartfelt tribute to the enduring friendship between France and Chad, celebrating the collective efforts that continue to shape their shared future.
