The recent visit by Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, head of state, to N’Djamena, Chad, centered on enhancing bilateral relations and engaging the Malagasy diaspora. During his stay, a productive meeting was convened with approximately twenty Malagasy nationals residing in the country. Colonel Randrianirina emphasized the crucial role of the diaspora, stating, “The diaspora represents a significant strength for Madagascar. Its valuable skills and expertise must be further recognized and leveraged.”
Beyond these important discussions, the visit also aimed to invigorate economic and professional exchanges between Madagascar and Chad. Promoting the free movement of expertise and fostering shared experiences were highlighted as vital mechanisms to bolster Madagascar’s influence and engagement across the African continent.
A significant highlight of the agenda was Colonel Randrianirina’s participation in the celebrations marking Chad’s 66th anniversary of independence, held yesterday in N’Djamena. He attended the festivities at the invitation of Marshal Idriss Mahamat, the President of Chad, and was joined by General Horta N’Tam, President of Guinea-Bissau. Colonel Randrianirina characterized this gathering as a prime opportunity to “fortify intra-African cooperation.” He further revealed that the Chadian President has expressed his readiness to undertake a reciprocal visit to Madagascar to engage in further discussions and pinpoint potential avenues for collaboration between the two nations.
