Between June 23 and 29, 2026, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) carried out a security operation escorting civilian trucks along the vital Kayes–Sandaré–Diéma–Bamako corridor. The mission aimed to bolster safety on this strategic route.
A first FAMa detachment guided 540 civilian trucks from Kayes to Sandaré. Simultaneously, a second group departed Diéma on June 23 to rendezvous with the convoy, assuming responsibility for the 540 trucks as well as several vehicles stranded at Sandaré.
Once reunited at Diéma, the convoy swelled to 940 civilian trucks. Under FAMa escort, the convoy passed through Sebabougou, Kwala, Diédiéni, Kolokani, and Kati before reaching Bamako without any significant incidents.
This operation reflects the FAMa’s ongoing commitment to securing strategic roadways, protecting travelers, and ensuring unrestricted movement across Mali’s national territory.
