Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco strengthen ties through royal initiatives

Abidjan reaffirms support for Morocco’s visionary African development projects

During a working visit to Rabat, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kacou Adom, publicly endorsed the Kingdom of Morocco’s strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating Africa’s economic and infrastructural progress. Speaking alongside his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, he emphasized the depth of this partnership, stating: “Côte d’Ivoire fully aligns itself with these initiatives and is committed to collaborating closely with Morocco to ensure their successful implementation under the wise guidance of His Majesty the King.”

Beyond political alignment, Minister Adom highlighted the thriving economic cooperation between the two nations. He noted how Moroccan private sector investments are actively contributing to Côte d’Ivoire’s economic transformation and national development goals. The discussions also focused on enhancing the Morocco-Côte d’Ivoire Economic Impulse Group, with both sides agreeing to revitalize its operations to unlock greater bilateral opportunities.

Morocco’s Foreign Minister reciprocated with strong praise for Côte d’Ivoire’s unwavering stance on the Sahara issue. “For decades, Côte d’Ivoire has stood as a steadfast ally and reliable partner in this pivotal matter, which holds existential significance for our nation,” Bourita remarked. He added that the Kingdom’s leadership and populace deeply value this consistent support.

Bourita further commended Côte d’Ivoire’s role as a key regional player, particularly in advancing Morocco’s flagship continental projects. He singled out the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline—a visionary initiative personally championed by His Majesty the King—as a prime example of this cooperation. Recent developments have marked significant progress, with ECOWAS leaders approving the intergovernmental agreement that paves the way for this transformative infrastructure project.

The meeting underscored the robust and multidimensional relationship between Rabat and Abidjan. From shared political stances to dynamic economic ventures and alignment on major continental initiatives, Côte d’Ivoire solidifies its position as one of Morocco’s most trusted and influential partners in Africa.
