The Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, co-chaired this Friday, May 22, a high-level meeting of the National Joint Steering Committee for the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2024-2026 in N’Djamena.
Attended by the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Dr. François Batalingaya, the session brought together government officials, UN agency representatives, technical and financial partners, as well as civil society and private sector stakeholders.
This landmark gathering served a dual purpose: reviewing the 2024-2026 cooperation cycle and formally kickstarting preparations for the 2027-2030 framework. In his address, Tahir Hamid Nguilin underscored the depth of Chad’s partnership with the UN system, calling the meeting a strategic imperative.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the Tchad Connexion 2030 National Development Plan, which aims to build a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Chad. Key focus areas include human capital development, climate adaptation, good governance, youth employment, and women’s empowerment.
« This steering committee session demonstrates our shared determination to align UN interventions with Chad’s national priorities, » Nguilin stated. « By endorsing the 2026 work plans and laying the groundwork for 2027-2030, we are reaffirming our dedication to inclusive growth that leaves no one behind. »
Dr. François Batalingaya echoed this sentiment, highlighting the progress made in the 2024-2026 cycle. « As we conclude this phase, our focus shifts to the future, » he noted. « The 2027-2030 UNSDCF will embody a renewed ambition to meet Chad’s financing needs and the aspirations of its people. »
Discussions centered on the lessons learned from the current cycle and strategic priorities for 2027-2030, including development financing, social inclusion, and resilience. The next cooperation framework will be closely aligned with the Tchad Connexion 2030 National Development Plan.
