Cameroon’s public service unveils 2,305 recruitment opportunities for 2026

The government has officially published a series of decrees outlining the competitive examinations, direct entry competitions, professional contests, and selection tests designed to fill these vacancies.

For the 2026 fiscal year, the State Public Service of Cameroon is opening a total of 2,305 positions across various governmental departments. Joseph LE, the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, initiated this recruitment drive on June 4 by issuing 36 decrees that detail the participation requirements for these competitive processes. An accompanying information note from the minister provides a comprehensive breakdown of how these positions will be allocated.

Initially, 890 slots are designated for conventional recruitment streams. This includes 470 positions available through direct competitive examinations, targeting professionals in financial management, agriculture, mining and geology, civil engineering, livestock and marine fisheries, telecommunications, and public health. Additionally, 100 places are offered via training competitions for the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) and the National Centers for Youth and Sports (CENAJES). The National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) will also offer 220 training positions through its own competitive exams, complemented by 100 places filled via selection tests.

Furthermore, 1,200 positions fall under special recruitment initiatives, as mandated by the President of the Republic for the health and education sectors. This includes 1,000 places reserved for “auditeurs libres” (free candidates) at the Higher Teacher Training Colleges (ENS) and Higher Technical Teacher Training Colleges (ENSET). For these candidates, the minister specified that upon application, each individual must select a specific school where they intend to work and will take their examination at the regional center hosting that chosen institution. An additional 200 places are allocated for specialist doctors, supplementing the 920 other healthcare professional positions announced in April 2026.

Finally, 215 positions will be filled through professional competitive examinations.

It is worth noting that the 2,305 positions available for 2026 represent a decrease of 555 compared to the 2025 fiscal year, when the government had offered 2,860 recruitment opportunities.
