René Emmanuel Sadi, the Minister of Communication and government spokesperson, affirmed that President Biya is indeed “in good health” and that “there is no power vacuum” in Cameroon. Minister Sadi also announced that the head of state’s return to the country is imminent.

Persistent rumors had suggested that President Biya was unwell and receiving treatment at a clinic in Geneva. However, these reports have been explicitly refuted by the government. The official statement aims to counter the narrative of a leadership crisis, a notion actively promoted by opposition factions amidst the president’s extended stay abroad.

This clarification from the Cameroonian administration is crucial for maintaining public confidence and stability in African current affairs. It underscores the government’s commitment to transparent communication regarding the president’s status, ensuring the continuity of national governance and dispelling any concerns about leadership.
