Butembo-beni bishop calls out political drift in dr Congo
In a message issued in memory of the martyrs Charles Lwanga and his companions, Bishop Sikuli Paluku Melchisédech of Butembo-Beni in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo directly challenged Congolese authorities about the worsening security and social conditions in his diocese. The prelate expressed bitterness over what he described as a disconnect between the priorities of politicians and the genuine, urgent needs of the Congolese people.
