Ousmane Sonko, the influential leader of Pastef, has issued a firm directive to his followers, urging them to abandon derisive remarks and mocking epithets targeting authorities. He underscored the counterproductive nature of such tactics, advocating instead for a political dialogue centered exclusively on substantive ideas and programmatic proposals.
Speaking before a large gathering at the Dakar Arena, the prominent figure of the Patriotes movement cautioned his supporters against the pitfalls of confrontational language. Sonko articulated that these provocative jests could be perceived as deliberate attempts to instigate legal actions, potentially leading to the incarceration of those responsible. He called upon the youth and sympathizers of the ruling party to collectively raise the standard of political exchange, maintaining a clear focus on constructive policy discussions and the vigorous exchange of ideas.
Outlining the party’s renewed strategic direction, the president of the Assemblée nationale instructed his teams to intensify their efforts on the ground. He encouraged them to traverse the entire national territory, aiming to expand and durably solidify Pastef’s foundational support. Furthermore, emphasizing the organizational future of the movement, Sonko highlighted the critical need to enhance the political and intellectual development of its militants, thereby strengthening the party’s republican roots.
