Burkina Faso launches Dɛmɛ Sira to digitize national humanitarian aid

The government of Burkina Faso has reached a significant milestone in the modernization of its social policies with the official launch of the Dɛmɛ Sira digital platform. Introduced on June 2, 2026, in Ouagadougou, this initiative is set to transform national solidarity by leveraging digital tools to support humanitarian efforts.

Meaning “the path of solidarity,” Dɛmɛ Sira serves as a dedicated digital portal designed to facilitate citizen contributions toward social actions. The platform aims to provide aid to vulnerable populations through a direct and transparent channel, making it easier for citizens of Burkina Faso at home and within the diaspora to participate in public welfare initiatives.

A collaborative effort for social governance

The inauguration ceremony was led by the Minister of Family and Solidarity, Lieutenant-Colonel Passowendé Pélagie Kabré/Kaboré. She was joined by the Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Sabané, who served as the patron for the launch event.

During the proceedings, it was emphasized that Dɛmɛ Sira represents a strategic shift toward a more inclusive model of solidarity. By integrating technology into social governance, the authorities aim to improve the efficiency, traceability, and reach of public assistance programs. The development of this tool was made possible through the collaborative efforts of various technical and institutional teams committed to social progress.

Modernizing humanitarian aid in Africa

Accessible through the institutional portal of the Ministry of Solidarity, the platform is part of a larger movement across Africa to utilize digital solutions for more than just administrative tasks. It positions technology as a vital lever for citizen engagement and social cohesion, ensuring that help reaches those most in need with greater speed and accountability. This step reinforces the role of digital innovation in building stronger social bonds and more effective public services.
