On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Ouagadougou played host to the fourth annual Mousso d’Or awards, an esteemed event dedicated to honoring Burkinabè women whose unwavering commitment, transformative leadership, and significant achievements are propelling the nation’s progress. This prestigious ceremony, championing feminine excellence, recognized numerous remarkable women and organizations across a wide spectrum of sectors.
As the evening concluded, the coveted Mousso d’Or 2026 trophy was presented to Salmata Sawadogo, the dynamic President and CEO of Salmata Commerce Général.
This esteemed recognition underscores her impressive entrepreneurial journey and her dedicated efforts towards fostering women’s economic empowerment throughout Burkina Faso.

The principal laureate conveyed her profound gratitude to the organizers and everyone who supported her path. She views this significant award not just as an honor, but as a powerful impetus to intensify her work and motivate more women to embrace their potential and pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
Beyond the main accolade, other distinguished women were celebrated across various categories. Talato Ouédraogo secured the “Golden Nugget” award, while the Wend Guetta association earned recognition in the “Association” category. Charlotte Milliogo from USFA was honored in “Sport,” Mam Sank triumphed in “Catering,” and Almaty Meria was acclaimed as the top “Musical Artist.”

Each deserving winner proudly received a distinctive trophy, a ceremonial sash, and a certificate of commendation. Additionally, an honorary trophy was bestowed upon Adja Abibou Sana Ouédraogo, acknowledging her remarkable career and unwavering dedication.
The gala also featured the presentation of several special awards, notably recognizing the Forces de défense et de sécurité (FDS) and the Volontaires pour la défense de la patrie (VDP). These special honors acknowledged their crucial contributions to maintaining peace and fostering social cohesion within the nation.
Mohamado Sanfo, the event’s Commissioner General, explained that the Mousso d’Or initiative is dedicated to shining a spotlight on women who demonstrate exceptional prowess in their chosen fields. “When a woman finds happiness, an entire family finds happiness,” he articulated.

Sanfo further highlighted that the Mousso d’Or program extends its reach through social initiatives designed to support vulnerable women. This year, forty widows of FDS members who made the ultimate sacrifice received specialized training and comprehensive assistance aimed at bolstering their self-sufficiency.
Despite facing various challenges throughout previous editions, Mohamado Sanfo expressed immense satisfaction with the event’s continuous growth and the burgeoning public enthusiasm it now commands.
“We have encountered difficulties, but our passion propels us forward,” he stated. “This year, we witnessed a robust turnout, which truly signifies the profound interest in advancing the cause of women’s promotion.”
In total, this fourth edition saw awards presented across sixteen distinct categories, alongside seven special prizes and one distinguished honorary trophy. Talato Ouédraogo, the recipient of the “Golden Nugget” award, commended the initiative for its powerful encouragement for women to strive for excellence.
“We urge all women aspiring to embark on new ventures to do so without hesitation. Today, female excellence is not only recognized but actively championed,” she affirmed.
Through this impactful fourth edition, the Mousso d’Or awards powerfully reiterated their core mission: to celebrate the women who, through their tireless work, unwavering resilience, and profound dedication, contribute daily to the flourishing development of Burkina Faso.
