Benin deputy François Silibi sworn in at national assembly

François Silibi officially took his seat in the National Assembly this Friday, July 10, 2026, marking a significant transition in the legislative body. His appointment follows the departure of Louis Vlavonou, who ascended to the Senate as a member ex officio, a position granted to former presidents of the National Assembly.

The induction ceremony for the new deputy took place immediately after the plenary session held at the Palais des Gouverneurs in Porto-Novo. François Silibi, born in 1982, is an English professor hailing from Ifangni—the same constituency as his predecessor, Louis Vlavonou. He will now represent this area in the 10th legislature.
