Grand-Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire – A fresh political entity, Alternative Crédible (ACR), seeking to present a new vision for the nation, was formally introduced to the press by its leaders on Saturday, July 4, 2026. This significant announcement took place during a press conference held in Grand-Bassam.
Oxyde Tano, the National Executive Secretary of ACR and the keynote speaker at the event, articulated the movement’s core principles, aspirations, and overarching vision. He positioned Alternative Crédible as a crucial response to Côte d’Ivoire’s pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges.
Tano elaborated that this initiative officially began on December 1, 2025, stemming from the collective will of women, men, and young people from diverse backgrounds. Their shared determination is to pioneer a fresh approach to political engagement within Côte d’Ivoire.
Mr. Tano highlighted that ACR’s formation is predicated on a widely acknowledged reality: despite its abundant human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with significant hurdles. These include the escalating cost of living, rampant youth unemployment, persistent social inequalities, inadequacies in public services, and deepening societal divisions.
Positioning itself as a left-leaning political movement, Alternative Crédible unequivocally states its commitment to placing human well-being at the core of its agenda. Its guiding vision is to forge a Côte d’Ivoire that is «just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, solidary, and steadfastly respectful of the rule of law».
Operating under the powerful slogan, «Demain se décide aujourd’hui» (Tomorrow is decided today), ACR intends to champion a model of governance rooted in transparency, open dialogue, and an unwavering pursuit of the common good. Ultimately, the movement aspires to unite the nation’s vibrant forces around a credible political blueprint, contributing to the establishment of a more effective state, a more inclusive economy, and a more equitable society.
The leadership of Alternative Crédible outlined the key pillars of their political program. These encompass critical areas such as youth employment and entrepreneurship, enhancing the educational system, ensuring access to quality healthcare, modernizing agriculture, bolstering the security of individuals and property, promoting women’s rights, combating the high cost of living, fostering sustainable economic development, protecting the environment, and strengthening national unity.
Oxyde Tano affirmed ACR’s commitment to open dialogue with all political and social entities that share its foundational values of peace, democracy, social justice, and national development. He underscored that special consideration would be given to young people, women, workers, economic stakeholders, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.
The National Executive Secretary further announced the official launch of the movement, scheduled for August in Cocody. During this pivotal event, ACR President Bamba Abou is set to formally unveil the comprehensive political vision and the major programmatic directions of Alternative Crédible.
Leading up to this inaugural ceremony, a series of awareness campaigns, general assemblies, the establishment of local coordination bodies, and nationwide mobilization and membership drives are planned across the entirety of the Ivorian territory.
«The moment has arrived to pen a new chapter in our nation’s history,» Oxyde Tano concluded, reiterating ACR’s profound ambition to contribute significantly to building a Côte d’Ivoire that is «more just, more robust, and more prosperous.»
