In a significant move to bolster bilateral ties, the Algerian Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, embarked on an official visit to the Republic of Chad today, Monday. The visit, mandated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aims to strengthen the bonds of fraternity and deepen cooperation between the two nations.
Accompanying the Prime Minister on this diplomatic mission are key figures including the Minister of State for Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, and the Director-General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation and Solidarity Development, Mr. Abed Hallouz. Additionally, several executives from national companies operating in the hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity sectors are part of the delegation.
Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the Algerian Prime Minister was warmly received by his Chadian counterpart, Mr. Allamaye Halina, along with members of the Chadian government and senior officials. Following the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers engaged in a bilateral working session to review the progress of distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad. They exchanged perspectives on revitalizing bilateral cooperation and expanding its scope, reflecting a shared commitment to elevating the partnership to new heights for the mutual benefit of both peoples.

The visit also included the symbolic laying of the foundation stone for a 40-megawatt Algerian-Chadian solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena. This project, to be executed by Sonelgaz International, is a gift from the Algerian government to Chad, in line with President Tebboune’s directives to support sustainable development in African nations. The initiative underscores Algeria’s unwavering dedication to fostering solidarity and cooperation across the continent through impactful, structurally significant projects.
The Algerian Prime Minister is also scheduled to hold consultations with the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, to discuss avenues for enhancing the Algerian-Chadian partnership and address key regional and pan-African issues of mutual interest.
