A major security sweep in N’Djamena targets criminal networks

A significant anti-crime initiative in N’Djamena has led to the apprehension of 252 individuals and the seizure of various illicit substances and objects. This extensive security sweep aims to bolster security within the Chadian capital.

Extensive operation targets high-crime zones

A joint commission of security forces launched a comprehensive sweep on Saturday, August 1, 2026, targeting numerous areas identified as hotspots for criminal activity across N’Djamena. The intervention mobilized various law enforcement and security units, including the National and Nomadic Guard of Chad (GNNT), the National Gendarmerie, National Police, Judicial Police, and other specialized services.

Key sectors pinpointed during the operation included Mandjakoli in the 5th arrondissement, Roma, Bildo, and Katanga within the 2nd arrondissement, as well as the Colombie district and several other neighborhoods throughout the capital.

Illicit substances and goods confiscated

During the intervention, officers apprehended individuals involved in the sale and consumption of various narcotics. Hachim Haroum Deby, the Director of Public Security, confirmed the seizure of drugs commonly known as “Colorado” and “Bongo,” alongside quantities of adulterated alcohol.

The mission was conducted under the direct supervision of the Director General of the National Gendarmerie, who also serves as the Deputy President of the Joint Control and Verification Commission. The 1st Deputy Police Controller General and the 2nd Deputy Commander of the National and Nomadic Guard of Chad (GNNT) were also key participants in overseeing the operation.

252 Suspects presented, significant seizures detailed

Following the extensive intervention, a total of 252 individuals were presented to the press. Security forces also showcased a substantial array of seized items, which included various weapons, computers, mobile phones, and 25 motorcycles.

The comprehensive results of this significant operation were subsequently presented to General Ali Ahmat Aghabache, the Minister of Public Security and Immigration.
