A significant leadership transition has occurred at the Compagnie Énergie Électrique du Togo (CEET), with General Director Débo-K’mba Barandao being relieved of his duties.
While no official explanation has been provided by authorities regarding the reasons behind this decision, the dismissal takes place amidst ongoing challenges for CEET, particularly concerning the reliability of electricity supply and the overall quality of service across the national grid.
Appointed in March 2022, Débo-K’mba Barandao was tasked with spearheading several crucial reforms within the state-owned utility, focusing on both organizational restructuring and operational improvements. His period at the helm of the institution was marked by various initiatives aimed at overhauling the company’s structure.
CEET, a pivotal player in Togo’s energy sector, has grappled with recurrent difficulties for several years, including frequent power outages and the pressing need to modernize its aging infrastructure. These issues have consistently impacted service delivery to consumers.
As of now, the government has not yet announced who will succeed Barandao. A new appointment is expected in the coming days to ensure the continuity of essential services provided by the energy company.
