Tchad honoring the new generation of GEMIA military school cadets

Chad honors the sixth promotion of GEMIA military school cadets

The Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées (GEMIA) in N’Djamena celebrated a milestone event today, marking the official induction of its sixth promotion of military school cadets alongside the presentation of academic and athletic distinctions. The solemn ceremony brought together top-ranking military and civilian leaders, underscoring the national importance of this educational initiative.

A transformative journey for young cadets

Seventy-six cadets, who joined the program on October 6, 2025, have completed a rigorous foundational phase designed to cultivate discipline, camaraderie, and resilience. Addressing the assembled dignitaries, the GEMIA commander emphasized the significance of this transition: « Today, they shed the label of ‘new recruits’ to fully embrace their identity as Enfants de Troupe, » he declared. The ceremony symbolized the culmination of months of training far removed from familial comfort, fostering bonds that will shape their futures as leaders.

Leadership vision and institutional values

The event highlighted the guiding principles of General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who has consistently stressed that « Chad’s future is built within its schools. » The military school’s motto, « To learn in order to build better, » encapsulates its commitment to honor, discipline, and excellence. These values were visibly embodied in the cadets’ achievements, recognized during the awards segment of the ceremony.

The top performers—academic standouts, most disciplined cadets, and top athletes—were honored for their dedication. The commander commended their accomplishments while urging them to sustain their momentum, reinforcing the institution’s role as a cradle for the nation’s future leaders.

A call for collective support

In his closing remarks, the GEMIA commander extended a call to action, urging partners and alumni associations to collaborate in elevating the school to national reference status. He also extended warm holiday wishes to all personnel and cadets, expressing gratitude to parents for their vital role in nurturing the next generation of national leaders.
