Strengthened partnership highlighted at french national day reception in Rabat

The French Embassy in Rabat hosted a vibrant celebration on Tuesday, July 14, marking France’s National Day. Over 1,500 guests gathered to honor the occasion, including high-profile figures such as Philippe Lalliot, the French Ambassador to Morocco. During the event, he emphasized the deepening ties between the two nations and their shared vision for the future.

Lalliot underscored the tangible progress in Morocco-France relations, highlighting partnerships in Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where he recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française in the city. His remarks reflected a commitment to building a collaborative future, as he stated, “From Rabat to Casablanca, Tangier to Marrakech, and even Laâyoune, we don’t just discuss the future—we actively shape it, day by day.”

During the gathering, Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, represented the government and reinforced the significance of this bilateral cooperation. Lalliot also referenced President Emmanuel Macron’s letter to King Mohammed VI in July 2024, which reaffirmed France’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara within the framework of international law.

The Ambassador highlighted the robust economic and diplomatic ties, noting that France remains Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer. He recalled the pivotal role French companies have played in driving Morocco’s industrial growth over the past decade. Looking ahead, he outlined three key priorities for the partnership: addressing global challenges collaboratively, strengthening mutual security, and fostering economic sectors of tomorrow.

Lalliot also emphasized the importance of cultural and societal connections, particularly between the youth of both nations, who he described as the “embodiment of the future of Morocco-France relations.” He concluded by celebrating the enduring human bond between the French and Moroccan peoples, a connection further strengthened by the vitality of their diasporas.
