Shocking video exposes martinez zogo’s final moments in court

The Martinez Zogo case: a leaked video rocks the courtroom in Yaoundé

Memorial to Martinez Zogo

In a landmark moment during the Martinez Zogo trial at the Yaoundé military court, the presiding judges took an unprecedented step by airing a disturbing video. The footage, captured in the final moments of the late journalist’s life, sent shockwaves through the courtroom and beyond.

Over two days—June 1 and 2—these harrowing images were played for the first time in public. The visual evidence, recovered from the private account of a former security officer, revealed the brutal reality of Martinez Zogo’s final hours. Bloodied and visibly in distress, the journalist’s desperate pleas for help resonated deeply with everyone present, leaving an indelible mark on the proceedings.

Courtroom falls silent as brutal images unfold

The air in the courtroom turned heavy with emotion as the video began. Martinez Zogo’s lifeless body, marked by signs of torture, filled the screen. His feeble attempts to speak amidst his suffering were heart-wrenching, with repeated cries for assistance echoing through the chamber. The graphic nature of the footage was so overwhelming that the judge had no choice but to adjourn the session immediately.

This is emotionally overwhelming—it’s almost unbearable. I don’t think I’m the only one feeling this way,” admitted Ludovic Sabze, a defense attorney present in the room.

The next day, as the trial resumed, the weight of those images still hung heavy in the air. Faces were grim, and the tension was palpable. The footage, extracted from the personal Google account of Sergeant Major Godje Oumarou Vincent—a former agent with the DGRE—had exposed a grim truth that could no longer be ignored.

Expert testimony reveals damning digital evidence

Cybersecurity expert Georges Bell Bitjoka took the stand to present findings that would further unravel the case. His meticulous analysis of digital traces linked key figures to the journalist’s abduction and torture, providing concrete evidence that challenged prior narratives.

Master Calvin Job, representing the Zogo family, hailed the discovery as a turning point. “This report puts everything on the table. It dismantles all the falsehoods we’ve been fed since day one,” he declared. Praising the expert’s thorough work, he added, “The technical precision and investigative rigor leave no room for doubt. If the court relies on this evidence, it will have already solved 98% of the case.”

Yet, despite these advances, one critical question remains unanswered: who ordered Martinez Zogo’s kidnapping and torture? The prosecution has yet to identify a clear mastermind behind the horrifying act.

A trail of half-truths and unresolved questions

Georges Bell Bitjoka’s testimony shed light on suspicious communications between businessman Jean-Pierre Amougou Belinga and Justin Danwe in the days surrounding the journalist’s abduction. The expert noted a surge in exchanges starting January 19—just a day after Zogo’s disappearance—and continuing until the discovery of his body ten days later. While some data was recovered, a significant portion had been erased, leaving investigators with more questions than answers.

It leaves a bitter aftertaste, like a puzzle missing key pieces,” lamented Paul Chouta, a journalist and close associate of Martinez Zogo. “The 18% of recovered data from Amougou Belinga’s phone neither confirms his guilt nor exonerates him.”

The defense team has now requested additional forensic analysis to recover the deleted exchanges between Danwe and Amougou Belinga. This next step could prove pivotal in uncovering the full truth behind the tragedy. The trial has been adjourned until June 22 and 23, when further revelations are expected to emerge.
