Three Senegalese football supporters who had been detained in Morocco following the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final have touched down in Dakar. Abdoulaye Dieng, Ibrahima Diop, and Aziz Wade landed at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) at 6:25 PM, greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The trio were among 18 Senegalese fans arrested during the high-stakes match between Senegal and Morocco. A Moroccan court had convicted them of hooliganism, including public disorder, projectile throwing, stadium damage, and clashes with law enforcement.
After serving their three-month prison sentences, the three were released on April 18. The remaining 15 supporters still in Morocco face sentences ranging from six months to a year, with their eventual returns to Senegal dependent on the expiration of their respective terms.
